1. Overview

AI Power Dict ("the App") is an AI-powered English dictionary for Chinese speakers, developed by Philip Chow ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. We are committed to protecting your privacy and collecting only the minimum data necessary to operate the service.

2. Information We Collect

On-device data (never leaves your device unless noted):

• SwiftData / UserDefaults — Your saved words, review records, search history, usage quota count, and app preferences are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData and UserDefaults frameworks.
• Camera / OCR — When you use the scan feature, your camera feed is processed entirely on-device using Apple's Vision framework. No images or video frames are ever transmitted to our servers or any third party.

Data sent to our backend (AWS Lambda):

• Word text — The English word you look up is sent to our backend API to retrieve AI-generated definitions and examples. This text is cached in Amazon DynamoDB for up to 180 days to serve future lookups faster. No personal identifiers are attached.
• IP address — Your IP address is used for per-IP rate limiting (20 requests/minute, 500 requests/day). Rate-limit counters stored in DynamoDB have a maximum 25-hour TTL and are then automatically deleted.

Analytics (TelemetryDeck):

• We use TelemetryDeck, a privacy-first analytics platform, to understand aggregate app usage (e.g., which features are used, app version distribution). Signals contain no personally identifiable information — only boolean, integer, or enumeration values. TelemetryDeck does not use advertising identifiers. See telemetrydeck.com/privacy.

Crash reporting (Sentry):

• We use Sentry for crash and error reporting with 10% trace sampling. Sentry may capture device model, OS version, app version, and stack traces. We configure Sentry to avoid capturing personal data. See sentry.io/privacy.

In-app purchases (Apple StoreKit):

• Subscription purchases are processed entirely by Apple. We receive only a transaction receipt and entitlement status — no payment card details or billing address.

3. What We Do NOT Collect

• No name, email address, or user account of any kind
• No Advertising Identifier (IDFA) or device fingerprint
• No location data
• No camera images or video (OCR is fully on-device)
• No contacts or other sensitive device data

4. Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data. Data is shared only with the following processors under appropriate data processing agreements:

• Amazon Web Services (AWS) — Backend hosting (Lambda, DynamoDB, CloudFront) in the ap-east-1 (Hong Kong) region.
• TelemetryDeck GmbH — Privacy-first analytics. No PII transmitted.
• Functional Software, Inc. (Sentry) — Crash and error reporting.
• Apple Inc. — In-app purchase processing and app distribution.

5. Data Retention

• Word cache (DynamoDB) — 180 days from last lookup, then automatically deleted via TTL.
• Rate-limit counters (DynamoDB) — Maximum 25-hour rolling window, then automatically deleted via TTL.
• On-device data — Retained until you delete the app or clear app data.
• TelemetryDeck signals — Retained per TelemetryDeck's policy (currently 1 year).
• Sentry events — Retained per Sentry's policy (currently 90 days for free plans).

6. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the App, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

7. Hong Kong PDPO Compliance

We operate in accordance with the Hong Kong Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486). Data collected is used solely for the purposes described in this policy. You have the right to request access to or correction of any personal data we hold about you by contacting us at the address below.

8. GDPR — EU/EEA Users

If you are in the European Union or European Economic Area, the following applies:

• Legal basis — Processing of your IP address for rate limiting is based on our legitimate interest in preventing abuse. Analytics and crash reporting are based on your implicit consent through app use; you may opt out by contacting us.
• Data transfers — Word cache data is processed on AWS in Hong Kong (ap-east-1). Analytics data is processed by TelemetryDeck in the EU. Both processors provide adequate safeguards.
• Automated decision-making — We do not use your data for profiling or automated decisions that affect you legally.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction or deletion of your data
• Object to or restrict certain processing
• Data portability (EU/EEA users)

Because we do not collect account information, we cannot identify individual users from word-lookup cache entries (which contain no personal identifiers). On-device data can be deleted by uninstalling the App.

AI Power Dict（"本应用"）是一款面向中文母语者的 AI 英语词典，由 Philip Chow（"我们"）开发。本政策说明我们收集哪些数据、如何使用这些数据以及您的权利。我们致力于保护您的隐私，仅收集运营服务所必需的最少量数据。

2. 我们收集的信息

设备本地数据（除非另有说明，否则不会离开您的设备）：

• SwiftData / UserDefaults — 您的收藏单词、复习记录、搜索历史、使用配额计数及应用偏好，均通过 Apple 的 SwiftData 和 UserDefaults 框架存储在您的设备本地。

崩溃报告（Sentry）：

• 单词缓存（DynamoDB） — 自最后一次查询起 180 天，到期后通过 TTL 自动删除。

• 设备本地数据 — 保留至您卸载应用或清除应用数据。
• TelemetryDeck 统计信号 — 按 TelemetryDeck 政策保留（目前为 1 年）。
• Sentry 事件 — 按 Sentry 政策保留（免费计划目前为 90 天）。

6. 儿童隐私

本应用不面向 13 岁以下儿童。我们不会有意收集 13 岁以下儿童的个人信息。如果您认为有 13 岁以下儿童通过本应用提供了个人信息，请联系我们，我们将及时删除。

7. 香港《个人资料（私隐）条例》合规

我们按照香港《个人资料（私隐）条例》（第 486 章）运营。所收集的数据仅用于本政策所述目的。您有权通过以下联系方式要求查阅或更正我们持有的与您相关的个人资料。

8. GDPR — 欧盟/欧洲经济区用户

如果您身处欧盟或欧洲经济区，以下内容适用：

• 法律依据 — 出于防止滥用的合法利益，处理您的 IP 地址用于限速。分析统计和崩溃报告基于您通过使用应用所给予的隐含同意；如需退出，请联系我们。
• 数据转移 — 单词缓存数据在香港（ap-east-1）的 AWS 上处理。分析数据由 TelemetryDeck 在欧盟处理。两家处理方均提供充分的保障措施。
• 自动化决策 — 我们不使用您的数据进行画像或对您产生法律效力的自动化决策。

9. 您的权利

根据您所在的司法管辖区，您可能拥有以下权利：

• 查阅我们持有的与您相关的个人数据
• 要求更正或删除您的数据
• 对特定处理提出异议或要求限制
• 数据可携带权（欧盟/欧洲经济区用户）

由于我们不收集账户信息，我们无法从单词查询缓存条目（不含个人标识符）中识别个别用户。设备本地数据可通过卸载应用来删除。
